The Club site in Zhouzhuang was chosen because of its natural surrounds, free from any urban intrusion, yet accessible from Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi and Hangzhou. The Club is a superb base to explore the local attractions of the area. The historic water township of Zhouzhuang is situated 70 km west of Shanghai. Crisscrossed with canals and ancient stone arched-bridges, almost sixty percent of the houses in Zhouzhuang were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Zhouzhuang has obtained international recognition by being nominated as a World Heritage Site in 1998.
